As a consequence of Covid-19 pubs and restaurants will operate an order from your table style of service. The days of standing at the bar ordering, drinking and chatting sound like they are (temporarily 🤞) over.
Shopify can handle all of this for you by simply utilising its Click & Collect functionality. Customers are able to order from the drinks and food menus and pay. The service area would receive notification of the order and can prepare the items. When the order is ready for collection the customer can be notified by email or text or both.
As well as order logistics Shopify will handle the collection of customer name, address, phone number and email address details which are required under test and trace legislation.
You should assist this service by keeping a temporary record of your customers and visitors for 21 days, in a way that is manageable for your business, and assist NHS Test and Trace with requests for that data if needed. This could help contain clusters or outbreaks.

Example customer instructions
- Visit www.myshopify.mypub-restaurant.com or scan QRCode to be taken there.
- Browse and add items to your cart.
- Checkout. (When you initially checkout you will asked to create an account- you will only have to do this once 😊. We know this is a bit of a pain but is required by Government and the information submitted may be of huge benefit should test and trace be invoked) As per Government guidelines all data will be erased after 21 days and will not be shared with any third parties.
- Your order will be prepared and you’ll receive an email / Text when ready to collect from our collection point.
- Confirm your order number at the collection point and pick up your items.
- Your order history will be remembered so “another round” is even easier. [Just hit Reorder]
